Pain Management and Sport Rehab

How does physiotherapy different from other professionals? For example, traditional chinese medicine (TCM), chiropractor, massage and so on.

  • Differential Diagnosis. With the experience of working with many other medical professionals in the hospital, physiotherapists are capable of performing differential diagnoses on your condition(s). For example, whether your neck pain is due to your posture, your old injury or any potential underlying medical condition like a tumour, infection and so on, and make appropriate referrals if required.

  • Treat The Root Causes. Physiotherapists are trained not just to manage your presenting symptoms but also to identify the root causes of these symptoms.

  • Evidence-based Practice. Physiotherapists are trained in performing evidence-based treatment. While each individual is bound to have differences in their symptoms and root causes, physiotherapists approach these symptoms and root causes based on a strong background of research which are proven to be effective.

  • No hard sell. Other than being bound by our code of conduct from AHPC, we simply do not do hard sell. We will not contribute to provider-induced-demand where the clients are conned into buying packages for an unnecessary number of sessions.

Why should I choose the physiotherapists from The Rehab Studio?

  • One to One Full Attention. All the sessions with our physiotherapists are one to one full attention. We do not leave you to do the treatment yourself nor expect you to self-correct.

  • Passive Approach. Our physiotherapists do use a passive approach (soft tissue release, joint mobilisation, dry needle, and so on) to treat your symptoms. However, we understand that this is just for temporary relief and may not achieve sustainable results.

  • Active Approach. Our physiotherapists are inclined to an active approach where we utilize exercise prescription, active stretching, posture advice, and gadget (shoes, pillow, chair, and so on) adaptation to achieve sustainable results.

  • Shortcoming. Our physiotherapists are honest with our shortcoming as a physiotherapist. For conditions that we deemed not suitable to be seen by a physiotherapist, for example: pain caused by severe nerve compression, severe malalignment of the bone, and so on, we will be honest with our client and that session will be Free Of Charge.

  • Centrally located. Our clinic is located at the heart of the CBD, a 5 minutes walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT station.

  • Fully equipped gym. Our clinic comes with a full-size gym, a rehab gym, and a pilates treatment space.

  • Full Facilities. To prepare you for the rest of your day after your physiotherapy session, you are welcome to shower here too, because why not? We have a locker room, dressing area with hairdryer, multiple shower cubicles with clean towels provided, as well as free coffee and tea!

Can I expect a 100% recovery from the physiotherapy session?

Each individual responds to the treatment differently and has different recovery potential. However, there are generally some determining factors.

  • Age. In general, younger people tend to respond better and have better recovery potential as their bodies adapt better, recover faster, and most of the time, their symptoms are not long-standing (means they seek treatment earlier).

  • Onset of the symptoms. The earlier you seek the treatment, the better you respond to the treatment, the better the recovery potential. The longer you wait, the more complicated the issue becomes, the poorer the response.

  • Lifestyle. People who have an active and healthy lifestyle tend to respond better and have better recovery potential.

  • Other conditions. People who have other conditions, for example: scoliosis, old injury, flat foot, different leg length, and so on, tend to have poorer outcomes. This is mainly due to the potential link between the symptoms and other conditions.

How many sessions do I need before I can see improvement?

Similar to recovery potential, each individual responds differently based on several determining factors.

After your first assessment, our physiotherapist will discuss this with you and set an appropriate realistic goal for your recovery.

How is physiotherapy different from other professionals? For example, traditional chinese medicine (TCM) physicians, chiropractors, massage therapists and so on.

  • Clinical Experience in Hospitals. With the experience of working with many other medical professionals in the hospital, our physiotherapists are familiar with most medical conditions and procedures. This allows our physiotherapist to prescribe safe and specific exercises to aid your recovery, understand medical emergencies and make timely referrals to the doctor or other medical professionals when needed.

  • Medically Trained. Physiotherapists are trained not just to manage your presenting symptoms but also identify root causes of the symptoms, based on specific assessment tools and clinical reasoning.

  • Allied Health Professional Council. All licensed physiotherapists in Singapore are governed by the Allied Health Professionals Council (AHPC). They must be qualified and licensed in order to uphold the standard of our profession. For more information, check out the AHPC website.

  • No hard selling. Other than upholding our code of conduct guided by the AHPC, we simply do not hard sell. We will not contribute to provider-induced-demand where clients are conned into buying packages for an unnecessary number of sessions.

Why should I choose the physiotherapists from The Rehab Studio?

  • One to One Full Attention. All sessions with our physiotherapists are one to one full attention. We do not leave clients unsupervised, for instance, carry out the treatment unattended or expect self-correction.

  • Rehab in Your Familiar Environment. Unlike your rehab session in the hospital or clinic, home rehab with our physiotherapist will be conducted in your living or working environment. This simply means that we can practice activities which are relevant and practical to you!

  • Home Exercises on the Spot. With home rehab, our physiotherapist will prescribe rehab exercises that can be done using your furniture or tools which are available at home. This allows clients to be more compliant and confident in engaging in home exercises at their own time.

  • Realistic Goal Setting. Our physiotherapists are honest and understanding with our shortcomings. For conditions we deemed unsuitable to be seen by a physiotherapist or clients displaying poor rehab potential, for example, severe stroke and unresponsive to surroundings, we will discuss the rehab plan and set realistic goals with the family before committing ourselves to serve you.

  • Highly Accessible. We literally bring our service to your doorstep at an affordable rate. This means no extra time and money spent on travelling or commuting.

  • Transiting Back Into the Community. Once clients have shown progression and significant improvement, we will review the rehab plan and progress by doing rehab in the community! For example, walking to nearby hawker centre, learning to take public transport, having a picnic with the kids at East Coast Park etc… because why not?

Can I expect 100% recovery from physiotherapy?

Each individual respond to treatment differently and have very different recovery potential. However, there are generally some determining factors.

  • Age. In general, younger individuals tend to respond better and have better recovery potential as their bodies adapt better, recover faster, and most of the time, their symptoms are not long standing (as they seek treatment earlier).

  • Onset of the symptoms. The earlier you seek treatment, the better you respond to treatment and the better your recovery potential. The longer you wait, the more complicated the issue becomes, the poorer the response.

  • Lifestyle. Individuals who have an active and healthy lifestyle prior their condition/ disease tend to respond better and have better recovery potential.

  • Pre-existing conditions. Individuals who have pre-existing conditions like chronic diseases (hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, cancer history) or have had previous injuries or surgeries tend to respond slower and have a longer recovery time. This is the group that also require closer monitoring during the session which our physiotherapists are trained to look out for.
