Physiotherapy in pain management is an extensive topic. Some forms of pain can be successfully treated by a physiotherapist, whereas others might require a combination of physiotherapy sessions, medication, and time to experience notable improvement.
Types of pain that can be effectively alleviated by a physiotherapist include, but are not limited to:
Back pain, neck pain, and shoulder pain caused by muscle imbalance, poor posture, and incorrect ergonomic habits
Muscle pain or spasms resulting from overuse or muscle strain
Joint pain caused by incorrect exercise techniques, poor ergonomic habits, muscle imbalance, and joint impingement
Post-surgical pain due to immobility, limited range of motion, swelling, and muscle weakness
Nerve pain resulting from impingement, mild compression, limited range of motion, and restricted mobility
Headache due to stiff neck, neck pain, limited neck movement, and poor ergonomic

Other types of pain that may require a combination of physiotherapy sessions, medication, and an extended period of time to achieve significant improvement include, but are not limited to:
Pain resulting from traumatic injuries such as ligament tears, fractures, contusions, muscle tears, and other similar conditions.
Pain caused by inflammation, which may stem from infections, severe arthritis, autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammation, and related issues.
Pain arising from congenital abnormalities like severe bone or joint deformities, severe scoliosis, significant leg length discrepancies, and similar conditions.
Pain triggered by underlying medical conditions such as cancer-related pain, neuromuscular degenerative diseases, muscle contractures, and similar issues.
